The Winegar family came to the studio this weekend for pictures. They are so much fun. :) It is so neat to see such a large family get along so well. First we did pictures of each child, which was awesome, but then I broke out the silly booth stuff and it was so much fun to watch them play together. Silly string was a blast to do :)

Sam came into the studio today and had his pictures done, he was so awesome! As all almost two year olds are, he was super busy playing with the entire animal kingdom I have here in the studio including the elephant, frog, and horse. LOL. Who knew that elephant that was given to me for free would be so popular!

Jen, thanks for coming all the way from IA City to do pictures, I really do appreciate it!

Okay, so I am way behind on this post, but better late than never I'm hoping?

Caine was my first session in the new studio--I needed some new images for marketing materials, so I called on his mama, Ashley and she brought him in right away for this session! I am so thrilled that Caine could be my first session in the new studio!!!!!

Preston came back to visit me for the first time at the new studio this weekend, he is growing up so darn fast. Now he's running around at full speed, telling me what he wants to do (or doesn't want to do), but what I love is that he has such a personality and a kind heart. He went through my toy box and played with all of my animals and even gave my elephant a drink while he was here (twice!) The hit of the day was the frog though, he stayed in the toy box until we got smiles! I was super stoked that we got to use my new borrowed vintage sled and my new sock monkey hat. Preston was perfect for this gig :)

My favorite? Perhaps. :)

one word for this.. ornery.. okay, maybe 2--adorable!

this was a fun one-Preston wanted to ride the elephant and sit with the frog at the same time :) He is an expert negotiator.

United Way and Open House..

Two birds--one stone! We are going to be doing our 2nd Annual Live United Photo Shoot at the new studio this year. Members of the community are invited to come into the studio for pictures. In turn, United Way will use these pictures in their marketing materials in the coming year. We had a blast last year doing this!

At the same time, we are going to be having our big Open House. So come in, take a look around, and introduce yourself! We will be giving away prizes as well, so you might just win something!

The United Way Shoot is Feb 16 from 3-6, Feb 17 from 3-6, Feb 18 from 9-11. We will be in the studio that week for our open house from 11-7.

We're located at: 1516 A Avenue East in Oskaloosa, IA.

I know I'm late announcing it here, but we have moved into a brand new studio in town and are finally at a place where we can post pictures! We're still getting stuff on the walls and finalizing everything, but I really really want to show you what we've been up to for the last few weeks!

If you're standing in the back of the room and looking towards the front of the room, here is the view.. This wall is the only wall that is the original color, we just put another coat of paint on it.

This is the shooting room, it is a long, rectangular shaped room, perfect for shooting. This is the view from the back of the room. The door on the left goes to the main room.

Here is the room completely painted. When the backdrop is up, it covers the purple door.

Here it is with a blue backdrop set up at night. My daughter is modeling-ha ha.

What a little doll!! This little guy was 8 days old when I photographed him yesterday. He was a good sleeper and we were able to get a lot of great images of him sleeping. We did these images on location at his Grandma's house--she has a beautiful fireplace and the it really warm for him.

Grandma had a few special props she wanted to use, and these were so special. It was so neat to use some props that I don't normally see.

My son the basketball player

My son is a 7th grader at Oskaloosa Middle School and he recently joined the basketball team. This weekend I begged him to let me take some pictures of him. He finally agreed and I got some good ones. I tried out a new lighting technique and I really like the way it made the pictures look, these have very little edit to them at all, just sharpening and a curves boost.

Indoor Christmas Cutie Event

This year's event was awesome!! We did 4 sessions this Saturday and it was a success.. Oh, except for the part where I lost the keys to the space and found them, then successfully locked them in the space before the shoot happened. Thankfully, I had planned some extra set up time while we got the spare key!

Round 2 of Couch in the Leaves.. It was insanely windy in town--I had even put a hairspray alert on my Facebook page to warn my families about the wind (I looove hairspray-a whole other blog post)... But out where we were, the wind wasn't too terribly bad. Temps were beautiful for November (in the 60's!), the sun was beautiful and hazy. ahhh, I love the hazy look the sun gives off when it's high in the sky..

Look at this wonderful family. I just love their outfit colors. They colors are fantastic. If you're wondering what to wear, take a page out of their book; bright, solid, coordinating colors (you don't all have to wear the same thing!)

Okay, so this isn't a couchy one.. But I still like it :)

Kevin is a senior at Chariton High School. Kevin and his mom and dad came down and we hit some great places for pictures. We scheduled pictures after school so we'd get the best light, but boy did it get cold fast. Kevin was a trooper though and we got some great stuff! We hit Lake Keomah for the pretty fall color and we also hit some alleys uptown. I love all the textures and colors we found.

Couch in a Field Extravaganza II

Couch in a Field this year was interesting.. So we had 93 degree temps on Saturday, which gave me a sunburn during my first session the sun was so strong.. And the poor people that showed up in sweaters--they were troopers though! Sunday wasn't quite so warm, but in the high 80's. Didn't feel like fall at all, but it looked like it which was all we needed!

The Webb family came all the way from Ankeny. Mom's a photographer and we are going to swap services this fall so I can get some pictures of my kids!

Jennifer, Glen, and Cookie came.. I work with Jennifer. She is awesome! And Cookie even smiled for this picture :)

Couch in a Field Extravaganza II

I've been really really bad about blogging lately, but I just wanted to tell everyone that I am super crazy stoked about this year's Couch in a Field Extravaganza. It will be tons of fun and I can't wait to use my super cool red vintage looking couches this weeekend. These couches have taken up residence on my deck aka Margarita Lounge and they are super comfy and uber cool looking. This event is several months in the making and I think we found the perfect location to do pictures. The trees and fall foliage are beautiful too, making it the perfect storm for this great event.!

This year we have 7 families participating!

Beautiful Wedding

I had the opportunity to second shoot with the awesome Erik Notz with Inspired Inspirations based out of Ankeny, Iowa, a few weeks back. I love
Des Moines weddings since I can shoot at locations I don't get to shoot at around here, Des Moines is full of spectacular locations.

This time the ceremony and getting ready pictures were taken at Salisbury House
which I had never been to, but it was g.orgeou.s!

We hung the dress in the dressing room. One of the bridesmaids hung it up there for me, but I had to climb on a chair to retrieve it. ha ha. It's so much fun being short *sarcasm*

Miss A

I did Miss A's mommy's maternity pictures and I've been dying to do an infant model shoot, so Miss A was the perfect candidate. I had so much fun and got to try a ton of props out. I recently went to a class in Des Moines to learn some infant photography tips, so I was all ready to use my new skills. What a fun time we had, Miss A slept most of the session. It was so great! :)

Today I did Dayton's pictures, he is so cute! I just love his curls, but I hear they may be being cut soon. I'm sure he'll look adorable with short hair too. :) It was a beautiful day out today, Dayton loved Lake Keomah, he ran around the area we chose and just explored and played. I followed him around and got some great pictures of him. He is such a charactor, definitely strong willed :)

Natalie and JD were referred to me by a great friend and client, and I recently did their engagement pictures. I am soooo thankful that it was a gorgeous day out this time, I think it was 106 degrees at 8 p.m. when we did their engagement pictures. Yesterday, the sky was full of "insanely awesome" gorgeous light during their fun pictures and it was about 80 degrees with a nice breeze.

The wedding was located at Lake Darling in Brighton, Iowa. There was this awesome lodge that they rented, it was the perfect size for the crowd they had and like I said it was perfect. We rode the "butterstick" which is an hawkeye decorated yellow RV to Fairfield to do the fun pictures, we shot at the square, a bunch of alleys and some fun buildings that we found along the way.

I think this might be my favorite picture I've come across so far.

This little doll was hard to catch--he thought it was a game to get his picture. But I was dying to get a picture of his dirty face :). Here he showed me his kung pow moves.

This was a fun candid of Natalie's grandma taking pictures of some of the guests. I had the honor of sitting with her for awhile and talking to her. What a wonderful lady. :)

Boy oh boy, these kids are adorable! I know I say that a lot, but I get to photograph the cutest kids and I love that part about my job :) These kids were a pretty good challenge for me, Maddie (the youngest) wanted nothing to do with pictures, so I had to be creative to get the images of her, her sister was at the age where she loved pictures, so she was pretty easy for me (which I am thankful for :)

BFF paint shoot Part I...

I have been thinking about doing a teen BFF shoot incorporating paint somehow for a long time, so I was finally able put my idea into camera for this past weekend.
Alexis Hanselman from Shear Envy salon in New Sharon is A.W.E.S.O.M.E. and generously offered to do hair and makup for the shoot. She did a fantastic job too!

Dana Linderman came along as well and shot with me. Shooting with Dana is always an adventure. Dana, I'll keep quiet on this shoot's awful fall. But if you see Dana, look at her leg and ask her what happened. She swears it doesn't hurt, but I think she's lying.. ha ha. It had to hurt!

Our models were: Daphni and Lindsey and they rocked. They were troopers :)

Bixler Family

I work with Lesa at the hospital--I think she is one of the best massage therapists around, in fact, she's the only massage therapist that has convinced me to let her work on me. She has been awesome at helping me when my arthritis flared up. Between her and the new medications, I am a new woman! :)

This is her boyfriend's family. Let me tell you, they are awesome. I was a total stranger to most everyone, but by the end of the session, I felt like I was part of the family, they even fed me ice cream! :)

So, if you're ever looking to adopt another family member, PICK ME! :)

I have had some ideas in my head awhile, so I asked DeAnna to model if she was up for this crazy hot weather. We said she was up for it, which was great. The day of the photoshoot, they issued a heat advisory, but she was still game! It was sizzling hot out, but there was a small breeze so that was great. DeAnna was a trooper!

So on these pictures, I tried out a new editing style and some new ideas I had been having. Hope you love them!

Love me some different angles !

So I borrowed this chair from the fantastic, Dana Linderman. When we got the chair, a leg was broken off (just broke off on the ride to my house). My son put the leg back on for me and we were able to use the chair for the rest of the shoot. While we were loading it in the truck, another leg broke off. ha ha.. this chair has leg issues. :) But it's too gorgeous to give up on.

Meet Natalie and JD. You'll be seeing more of them, next month is their wedding. I'm hoping it is a little cooler on their wedding day, but if the day of their session is a trial run, we should be up for anything, it was soooo hot the day of their session. We shot at 7 p.m. to try to avoid the heat, so we got some beautiful light too. We were able to get some great shots :)

These two cuties are in my Beautiful Faces program and are absolutley adorable! Rylee is by far the strongest willed little girl I have ever met. She will do exactly what she wants to do when she wants to do it.. :) But that's okay, after photographing her 3 times, I know how to get great pictures of her..... you know, distraction, bribery, and lots of luck!

A few weeks ago I had this fantastic idea to do candid family sessions at the mini putt here in town.. So, as usual, I put the idea out there on Facebook and this awesome family signed up! We used to be neighbors, so it was fun to get re-aquainted again. Not that we don't see them frequently at a local restaurant a LOT. :)

They had the coolest outfits ever! I kept photographing their shoes and socks ha ha..

Preston 18 months

It's been a few months since I've seen Preston, so I noticed immediately that he had changed a LOT since his last session. I think he still looks a ton like his mommy, but I can see some of his daddy in him too. They were awesome enough to come up to Oskaloosa from Ottumwa this time, it was a nice change of scenery! Oh yea, they were also awesome enough to bring me a Sonic Cherry Limeaid. I LOOOOVE Cherry Limeaid :)

I have to preface these last two shots by saying, it was 900 degrees out.. and I was sweating like crazy.. (okay that was a slight exaggeration, maybe 850 degrees give or take a few.) So we're in the sand box playing and I'm laying down to get my shot.. When he is playing so innocently and cutely with the sand..

And then.... He decides to throw two handfuls of it on me.. ha ha.. then reload and throw two more before I could even react.. LOL.. This is the last shot I got.. ha ha..

This is Grace, our neighbor, she's a few years younger than my Grace, but they are great friends. I found this really great location the other day and wanted to try something new and outside the box, so she was the perfect victim *ahem* model. LOL. I have to say, it's so much fun to watch kids grow up, I've been photographing him since he was a few days old, so it was so neat to see him around his 1 year birthday. William is so much fun to photograph, he is so incredibly photogenic.

He has this cute little dog that he plays with, it's supposed to build balance and coordination, it was soooo cute!

Abbie is the Forever Photography choice of the Cutest Kid contest.. I think she's even cuter in real life. What an angel!

We met out at Vennard College and shot at the beautiful campus. I love the shady areas they have out there, I can shoot at almost any time of day. It is awesome!

Today my kids and some neighbor kids wanted to have a water fight, so I let them have a hose fight in the backyard. There were 2 rules: Don't get me wet, and when I say "switch" I mean switch and give the hose to someone else. They had a blast soaking each other for several hours straight. It was so much fun. I took a bazillian pictures (668 to be exact) , so here are a few fun ones.

What a beautiful family, let me tell 'ya! They were tons of fun and up for about anything. It has rained a TON here the last few day and it was SUPER muddy on their property, so we did a bunch of pictures where we wouldn't get super dirty, and after we were all done with a majority of pictures, we did some where it was okay to get a little muddy. A little muddy is an understatement, I could barely keep my flip flops on, they kept slipping off on the hills. lol. I had flashbacks of last year when I feel down the steps while shooting on two occasions, but I didn't want today to be another fall day so I made sure to watch where I was going this time--tee hee.

Like I said-what a great family!

I helped out a fellow photographer on Saturday with a wedding, I love second shooting so much, I can do what I love to do and be without the pressure of the wedding. It's a nice change. Don't get me wrong, I do love the pressure of being the primary shooter--it's a nice to get a small break :)

It's been awhile since I've blogged and I have a lot to blog and a ton of stuff to share! I work with Julie at the hospital and we occasionally run into each other in the clinic which is fun! Always nice to see clients out and about and keep in touch with them. :)

We did the session at Lake Keomah and had a lot of fun, in fact, I think we saw a whale in the lake.. I know--you say whales aren't in Iowa, but the fish that jumped out of the water every time I wasn't looking, was real and was huge and made a big splash. It was crazy. It must have been huge. Seems like every time I looked away or put a camera up to my eye, it would splash.

Mud puddles...

Oh my gosh, my kids love mud. A few years ago, I did pictures with all 3 of my kids in a puddle and they are my all time favorite pictures ever. I don't think they will ever come down off my walls.. But after the big rainstorm this weekend, the kids were begging me to take their pictures in the puddle again, and of course, I let them. This time it was just the two younger kids, because my oldest is "way too old for that". Anyhow, we had a great time!

I got to hang out again with my photographer besties, Holly and Brandi this weekend! This time we decided to meet up half way from our homes which ended up being in Fairfield. We played around with OCF (off camera flash) and just had fun playing around with our cameras.

The girls did my headshots when we were in Chicago last month, so we did headshots of both Holly and Brandi this time. We also took pictures of my kids who came along for the ride (I'll share those later and you may have seen a few of them already on facebook.)

Oh my gosh, look at this little Doll! I love his dimples! Last session, he was not feeling like a model, so we got lots of adorable crying pictures. What an awesome kid! He stole my heart with his WWE moves (his favorites wrestlers are all of my favorites!), his adorable smile with a couple of teeth missing, and his great personality.

We started out the session with some fun WWE moves, then did some pictures with his football and then we ended up in a mud puddle (how did that happen?) ha ha, the mud puddle was unplanned but still tons of fun. :)

Terryk was a trooper, still posing it up even as frisbees whizzed over our heads and the park filled up with kids going to the prom that evening.

The Lee family and I decided it was WAY too nice to be shooting pictures indoors, so we decided take just a few pictures indoors and then find some nice light later in the day. Ronin and I needed naps (yeah, I did 4 sessions on Saturday!) and then we met up at the park and made beautiful pictures. I love how their colts blue color made the pictures pop!

I attended Light it Up Blue for Autism last night, it was an awesome event for the town of Oskaloosa. Here are a couple of images I got. I love the blue bandstand one! I also love how many people from Oskaloosa came out for the event. It. was. awesome.

After the event, we ate at Mi Ranchito, when we were done, I got this image. Super cool since it was way darker than when the event was going on. I snapped a few and the lights went out! Glad I got what I did. I got massive props to Musco for staying until the event was over to light the bandstand.

I love these two.. I've taken their pictures before, once for Saige's 3 month pictures and they were also at Couch in a Field. And they are both growing so fast!

I love just letting the kids be themselves, it makes for a neat kind of picture-one where you look back and realize you have a picture of how your child really was at that time in their life--bottle, pacifier, or favorite stuffed teddy bear. That's what I did here, just let Saige run around and try to get some smiles in the mix. *this usually requires mom and dad doing something silly (okay me too)!*

I can tell this family is a riot at home--check out this outtake.. ha ha.

Last year, I arranged to do a shoot with the gorgeous Ashley Sickels. I had found the perfect space but it was 4 hours away and in a city where I barely knew anyone. So I got with some other photographers and we were able to get into the space I had seen and loved! The space was dirty, grungy, and full of texture. From the moment I saw it, I wanted to do a trash the dress in it.

I purchased the perfect dress, picked out the perfect jewelry to compliment my vision, and let the girls at Hy-Vee in Oskaloosa run with any kind of bouquet that matched a bag of inspiration I took in. I also lined up professional hair by Abby Bowker of Expressions Studio, and Racheal Ebelsheiser did Ashley's makeup before we left town.

Ashley was a trooper, her dress was strapless and it was cold.. By cold, I mean we could see our breath in the space. Seriously.....

Fast forward a year, Brandi (one of the other photographers who had access to the space I wanted to shoot in), sent in a few of the images she had taken at the shoot to a magazine. We found out a few weeks ago that it had been published on page 7 in Celebrity Hair Style Magazine, Wedding Edition which officially hit news stands today!

While none of my actual pictures got chosen (none of my pictures were submitted) I am adding a few of them to this post. I love the pictures we got that day!!

Little Rylie was on a roll on Saturday, she wanted to be anywhere but in front of a camera--so we had quite the challenge on our hands, but we got some great pictures of her when she finally decided it was okay to take a few pictures. I'm so glad we got a few images of her smiling :) Although, I did hear from her mom who said she was crying later that she wanted to go get her picture taken--ha ha.. How funny is that?!

Okay, if you've been following the Forever Photography page on Facebook you've seen the posts about my Beautiful Faces plan.... It debuted this weekend and now I have the details for you all to see...

We got to try out the hats again for this session, his mommy must have been channeling me, as soon as I saw his outfits, I knew we could do the suitcases picture I had in my head.. Twas an interesting day in the weather department for sure.. The morning was filled with ice and rain but by the afternoon the ice had melted and a thick fog came in... Operation Love Reunited

Hi fellow readers, remember me? I've been a bad blogger lately! I've taken some time off for the holidays and thought I'd catch up a little bit around here before I start getting busy again!

I traveled to South Dakota this weekend to shoot Megan and Joe's wedding and it was beautiful. We were thinking it may snow, but it missed us. The weather was beautiful where we were!

Couch in a Field Extravaganza

This weekend was the first annual Couch in a Field Extravaganza.. We had a blast! I had 5 families sign up for the weekend and it was a huge success! Thanks to everyone who came and participated! I hope you had as much fun as I did!

Colton

Colton is a senior at Eddyville Blakesburg High School. I work with his mom at the hospital, in fact, she was my boss up until yesterday, so it was fun to see her again and we had a chance to catch up a little bit on the 3 mile trip out to the farm (ha ha).

Colton loves the outdoors so we did his session on a friend's farm. Colton did all kinds of things for his session; rode mules, got out his bow--all kinds of stuff! We had a beautiful night for pictures and I just love the colors we got.

It was nice to see you again, Colton. Cindie, I'll talk to you soon!

Loyal followers of the blog have seen these girls before, I took their pictures a few months back. This time they came back to get a family picture. We went to Keomah so we could get some fall color. These girls were complete angels for their session!

Josh is a senior at Oskaloosa Senior High. We did his pictures at the stadium in Oskaloosa. The stadium made for some really great colors and awesome variety in his pictures. Cale

Cale and his family are awesome :) No, really, they are. They live in Texas and came back to visit with family and friends and had me do Cale's pictures again--how awesome is that? They decided they wanted to visit the junkyard for Cale's pictures--how could I turn down my favorite place to shoot? :)

Cale was full of energy but didn't know exactly what to do with it, so we figured out the best way to get his attention was to let him throw rocks at his dad. I timed the shots and got the huge smile that came after he hit his dad with the rocks. I think I collapsed in laughter a few times too. :) Tim, thanks for not letting any hit me or the camera :)

He just hit his dad.. lol. Tim was very dramatic.. ha ha.. Some of those rocks had to hurt though :)

So there was this field next to the junkyard.. So the Texas boy had to go in it and the lighting was specatcular! Cale told jokes and silly stories.. He was a riot!

What happens when you tell a 3 yr old to sit down in a corn field? This!

Thank you again Natasha, Tim, and Cale for adding a stop for pictures during your busy trip back to Iowa. It truely does mean a lot to me. I love seeing Cale grow!

Twins!

This adorable family received a gift certificate for a session and we've been trying to do the session for awhile now, but we could never connect. They in fact had a Saturday session but it poured down rain, so we rescheduled for Sunday but it wasn't the nicest or the warmest day to shoot pictures, but we couldn't risk canceling the session again, so they braved the elements and we got some really cute pictures of the twins..

William is in my baby program and he's now 3 months old. He has grown so fast! Today we braved the rain, mist, fog, and cold to get some great pictures of him and his family. We did a few generation shots too, with his grandpas and grandmas.

I must have said something funny??? !
