Family session with a maternity shoot mixed in...

Holly and her family came into the studio for some shots and then we took a trek to Lake Red Rock which is her husband's favorite place to be in the summer. It was a great time and the kids were adorable. Congratulations on your soon to be little one, Holly and Waylon!  This blog post has a lot of images in it because there was a lot of variety :)

The whole family..
 cute belly shot :)

Adorable attitude shot :)

 So sweet !
I chased this poor little guy all over and even held a few of his rocks hostage until he let me have one good shot of his eyelashes. Holy cow-they were to die for!  Don't worry, he was fine after I got my shot. ha ha, bribery goes a long way!
Thanks guys for coming in, I really appreciate it!
Kelly

Family...

Ahhh, check out this great family. We drove out to Lake Keomah for their pictures and  found a really pretty place for pictures. They were so awesome and lots of fun! I'm so happy I got to photograph them and I look forward to photographing them in the future.
 I love this one :)

ha ha, she wanted NOTHING to do with the camera, but we did get her to peek out from behind her parents a few times. Super cute!

Fun with Collin!!

Collin is growing up :)  I photographed him when he was an infant and he's already 3 months old!  What a cutie!!!!   Look at those eyes!!!

About me...

In the past few years, my business has grown from a tiny business I could do out of my home photographing my family and friends, to a rather large business that I grow out of my studio in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  I would love to re-introduce myself to followers of my blog and website if you are a new to Forever Photography or new to me :)

My name is Kelly Stevens-Comstock, I am married to my wonderful husband Terry and I have three wonderful kids, 2 boys, 1 girl.  I have always loved photography. Always!   I am passionate about wanting to capture your children just as they are at a particular stage of their life. I let them run and play and be themselves. I am even super silly at the sessions too. I say it's because I want them to be comfortable in front of the camera but in all reality, I just can't help it-I am just a kid myself. :)

I love making new friends and I love it when clients turn into friends too! Since I started my business, I have watched several kids grow up, from doing their mama's maternity pictures all the way through their first few years of life. When I see you that often, you become part of my family and I love it when your kids take off running to give me a hug when you let them out of your car. It's times like this that I realize how powerful my job is and how incredibly lucky I am to do what I am doing.

I love warm weather (summer is my favorite time of the year!) I love sitting outside at night around a camp fire taking in the warm nights, the sounds and smells of nature. I think it is paradise! My favorite place in the whole wide world is beside my husband at a camp fire.

I change my hair color constantly... I love love love experimenting with my hair, from black with purple streaks, to red, to blonde, to all of the colors of the rainbow at one time, I love hair color.  I can promise you, it will never look the same from one session to the next. That is the artist in me.

Anyway, I would love to meet you, get to know your children and your family, and I would love to have you join the Forever Photography family and be part of this beautiful family I have grown to love over the last five years.

I leave this blog post with a picture my 9 year old daughter took of me a few weeks ago. I was afraid she might be better behind the camera than I am and I might just be right!

Playing Catch-Up

I'm playing blog catch up right now. I am so sorry for the delay in getting new images to the blog and Facebook!

Jessica brought her kids in to the studio to do pictures and we decided to go uptown to shoot in the alleys in town. I love the alleys, they are full of color and texture and fun stuff for kids.!  Her kids were adorable and they behaved so well!

Destiny has been in also with her two little boys. They were so much fun!

Mary Catherine and her family were in recently too. I have taken pictures of her son William since he was a newborn, so I was super excited to photograph her while she is expecting the newest addition to their family. I got to see the whole family and update their family picture while they were here.  I love this family!

This one is a perspective shot- When he is older, it will be hard to believe he was ever this small!
Love this one, he is so cute!
 She is so pretty here!

What was I shooting?

I'm sure it looks hilarious while I'm shooting. I am often on a ladder, on my stomach flat on the ground, tipped in a certain direction, or something wierd..
My second shooter, Jana, took this image of me shooting the rings at Holly & Wes Terpstra's wedding last week.

Super Moon

I set out to shoot this weekend's Super Moon, I had been planning the event the whole week--I was so excited, even though I had never successfully photographed the moon in focus with the correct exposure in camera. I loooove astronomy so much, I am passionate about it- I love photographing star trails, the moon was the last thing for me to figure out. So I did a ton of reasearch and headed out to view this year's super moon. I headed out with my daughter and her friend (little Grace) to my location-not a pretty location, just lots of flat land and treeless, but outside the city limits and away from the street lights. I set up the tripod, and looked for the moon in the East-I knew it should have risen, but couldn't see it at all. It was way too cloudy. We waited and waited, the girls thought they were cold so they grabbed blankets out of the car and wrapped themselves in it to view this exciting moon that was supposed to come out. More waiting... More waiting.. I decided to put away the tripod, I packed up the car and looked back up to the sky and noticed an orange glow behind a cloud, almost appearing--so quickly I put everything all back together and we saw the moon for about 3 seconds--LOL but it was BEAUTIFUL!!!! And then it was covered in clouds. But it was so pretty, the girls and I decided collectively to wait to see if it would appear again. And it did!!! I messed around with exposure and bracketing, and finally came up with a formula. Which of course varied every few seconds with the amount of cloud cover over the moon. But it was so worth it!!!!!!

I returned home and captured these from my yard. By that time, the moon was really high in the sky and the orange glow was gone.
A sort of artistic rendition with leaves from the trees framing the moon.

One Year Ago...

One year ago in April, I shot this image. I love it! Personality shot, all.the.way!
